Art Palette Splash Screen

To create this splash screen menu you will need a wood pattern, Blade Pro, and two Blade Pro presets (download them from the bottom of this page).

  1. Create a new white graphic the size you want your art palette to be plus some working room.
  2. Add a new layer.
  3. Make a ellipse selection with antialias checked the size of your palette and flood fill with Black.
  4. Make an ellipse selection for the cutout and move to where you want it to be with the mover tool. Flood fill with white.
  5. Make a mask from this image (Masks|New|From Image with "This Window, "Source Luminance" and "Invert Mask Data" checked.
  6. Choose Masks|Save to Alpha Channel, then Masks|Delete (don't merge with layer).
  7. Clear this layer.
  8. Load your selection (Selections|Load from Alpha Channel).
  9. Flood fill with a wood pattern.
  10. Apply the Blade Pro "bevel" preset.
  11. Add another new layer.
  12. Make a selection the size of the "paint" buttons. Save the selection to an Alpha Channel.
  13. Flood fill selection with a bright fairly light color.
  14. Apply the Blade Pro "Art_Palette" preset.
  15. Right click on the selection and drag it to a new position.
  16. Flood fill with another color and apply the Blade Pro preset.
  17. If you loose your selection, load it from the Alpha Channel.
  18. When you have all your buttons, select each one with the selection tool and drag until you get the placement the way you like it.
  19. Add a new layer and create the interior text (mine is Font: Anastasia, Color: Dark Brown, Shadow: White, offset 1,1.
  20. Add another layer and place your text on each button.
  21. Save as a psp file for future use or as a jpg (a gif will dither the colors too much).
